Good bye's and Welcomes - Exciting times for both Basic Stock & Le Petit Four
Exciting times for both Basic Stock & Le Petit Four
As Basic Stock expands and moves to a new premises we would like to offer a big thank you to Marissa & Onnie for all they have brought to Mayfair, as well as wishing them the very best for their exciting new Venture. Simultaneously we would like to offer Lezanne from Le Petit Four a warm welcome and success as she joins us at Mayfair.
Introducing Le Petit Four
Le Petit Four means "the little oven"
Linking to Mayfair with her healthy food options - fresh juices &
smoothies, exciting breakfast options, delicious coffee and buffet style
lunch dishes, Le petit four (Lezanne) also specializes in delicious baked goods.
Translated from French, Le Petit Four means “the
little oven”.
Lezanne: "Traditional petit fours are small confections
such as macarons, meringues and biscuits, which were baked in the oven after
the main baking was done. I was inspired
by these mini treats from a young age.
Armed with my 20-year old, reliable, Kenwood mixer, an heirloom from my
grandmother, I started Le Petit Four Boutique Bakery in 2010. As of the
beginning of August, Le Petit Four will be operating from Mayfair. I am
very excited about this next leg of our journey. Myself and my team are looking forward
to making new friends and enriching lives with our baked delights and
heart-warming meals."
Best wishes to Basic Stock
As Basic Stock moves and expands, they will be sticking to their concept, yet as their shop will be bigger you will be able to find more organic veggies, health products, free range meets, gluten free goodies and a bigger menu.
Marissa: "In December 2010 Basic Stock opened its doors to meet the first
customers looking for great coffee, organic veggies and much more. We have
grown substantially since then, with your continued and heartwarming support.
Many of you have become regulars and we have gotten to know each other well
through sharing our stories and tips on healthy living. To have such a loyal
and engaged group of customers is any shopkeepers dream and I am immensely
grateful for this. I hope to see you all at the new shop so we can keep on
growing together."
Basic stock will be a stone throw away.(From August 1st) You will find them in Hole in the
Wall, the centre just off Main Road. You can get to them
from Main Road no 93, between Benbel and the pet shop,
across from Checkers. Or drive from Andries Pretorius Street to Fagan
road and access the centre through the green gate to
park inside. You'll find them in the middle,
underneath G-Studio.

Fitness for the Future
Pilates for kids :
Fitness for the Future @ i.move studio
The health of today's children is compromised by a culture of convenience and increasingly sedentary activity. Eating fast food, watching TV and playing video games has become habitual while a nutritious diet and physical activity is on the downslide.
While the popularity of Pilates among adults is well chronicled, the exercise program also offers a large range of benefits to children. Improved posture and spinal alignment are realized as exercises increase the strength and flexibility of the abdominal and inner muscles of the body (the core or trunk). It promotes toned, sleek bodies and improves athletic performance. Through Pilates, children can gain awareness of their body, and learn how to move efficiently and gracefully. As children grow, their bodies are in a constant state of change and development.
Correctly or incorrectly it is here where they will formulate the physical attributes that they will take through life. Posture, the way they walk, the way they bend over, etc. Pilates can help establish correct principles of movement that children will use for their entire lives. It will also create a balanced musculature that can alleviate pain and reduce the potential for injury now and as they continue to grow into adulthood.
Beyond physical fitness, having a strong core can open up other benefits for children-including improved learning. Advocates believe that when trunk, or torso, stability is absent, sitting and standing for extended periods in school can be difficult. If children are expending their energy throughout the day just to maintain stability, their stamina for homework and other after school activities may be depleted. A strong trunk or core conserves their energy and allows them to be more attentive to schoolwork.
Concerned parents are now looking at exercise programs for their children in an effort to keep them fit and set them up for a lifetime of good health.
Because Pilates is a mind and body discipline, it can guide kids to a stronger body, and a more relaxed state of mind. Working to strengthen their bodies can increase children's self esteem, stamina, abdominal strength and sleep. That, combined with the focused breathing techniques essential to the exercises, can help kids attain a much more serene and less stressful outlook.
